Title:  Controls Engineer

Summary: Researches, develops, designs, and tests software for the control of HVAC equipment and other related systems. Provides troubleshooting and support services for both factory and field software and control issues.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Read, interpret, and comment on customer specifications, sequence of operations, and BMS lists.
  • Provide Sales and Application Engineering team time estimates for software development projects
  • Read electrical schematics, unit layout drawings, SAP Bill of Materials, and component data sheets to gather necessary technical information for program inputs.
  • Coordinate control and communication technical details with component vendors.
  • Develop PLC software using Carel 1Tool or STone to control HVAC equipment in data center applications.
  • Coordinate communication with customer building management systems.
  • Participate in the international team of developers to create a common global software platform.
  • Document and track software development process using Jira and Confluence software.
  • Perform software validation testing on machine simulators and prototype equipment.
  • Document software with sequence of operations, IOM and training materials.
  • Support field service personnel with control and software issues. This includes parametric controller programming and selection.
  • Travel when required for onsite testing and troubleshooting of control and software issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

  • AS or equivalent experience in HVAC controls, PLC programming, or related field
  • Training in Carel 1Tool and Stone PLC programming tool
  • Understanding of software development workflow and best practices
  • Experience using Structured Text or Function Block programming strategies
  • 5 years of experience with HVAC controls

Salary Range: $80k - $105k
