Title:  Material Handler I - 1st Shift (6am - 2:30pm)

Summary:

Assembles and routes jobs for the Production floor, loads, unloads, and moves materials within or near plant, yard, or work site, and fills production material needs by performing the following duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Trained on picker, turret, and forklift and operate utilizing all the safety protocols
  • Understand the importance of product identification and labeling
  • Can explain what 5S means and how it relates to their job responsibilities
  • Consistently follow all safety guidelines such as wearing correct PPE
  • Follows break/ lunch times and clocks in and out per individual's schedule
  • Able to accurately verify a job
  • Pulls correct material without errors on a consistent basis in a timely manner
  • Understand how default bins are utilized in SAP
  • Understand and can explain what FIFO means
  • Can complete a bin-to-bin transaction using handheld device
  • Can complete a put away transaction using handheld device
  • Must be able to take guidance from material handler 2 or higher
  • Can count accurately on a consistent basis
  • Can deliver material to where it needs to go in a timely manner
  • Can communicate issues professionally to both warehousr and production
  • Can look up available inventory in LS24
  • Can safely load and unload material from shelves or pallets
  • Can locate ISO controlled forms and work instructions on a computer
  • Can use a handheld device for pulling orders
  • Can locate the Quality Policy and describe what it means to them
  • Can help in receiving by verifying counts and matching against the packing lists
  • Can locate item drawings in SAP
  • Other Duties as required

 

Qualifications:

Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.  Must be familiarized with the standard concepts, practices, and procedures for the warehouse area and performs a variety of tasks. Eager to learn more about the ERP system and performs a variety of tasks. Works under immediate supervision; reports to the Warehouse Foreman. Customer Service attitude a must.

 

Education/Experience:

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
  • One year experience with forklift and/or electrically powered devices and certification
  • One year work experience in Warehouse and or Material Handling
  • Minimum level of computer knowledge

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Must be forklift certified.
  • Must complete and pass a forklift safety program prior to performing tasks related to the warehouse.

 

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to speak fluent English.

 

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers; multiply and divide by 10’s and 100’s.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Accurate counting and interpretation of vendor quantity in shipment

 

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved instructions furnished in written and oral form.

Ability to deal with problems involving a few variables in standardized situations.
