Title:  2nd Shift Shipping/Receiving Clerk

Summary:

Receives and unpacks materials and supplies, loads, unloads, and moves materials within or near plant, yard, or work site. Assembles orders and prepares goods for shipments including manufacturing wood skids and crates. Records applicable shipment data, assembles, and routes various types of printed material. Coordinates daily shipments with freight carriers and works with various departments to meet customer requirements by performing the following duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Meet delivery trucks
  • Inspect incoming material for damages and ensure material meets PO specification
  • Unload delivery trucks and provide a signature
  • Unpack ALL material to verify quantities, not just go by the quantity on the outside box.
  • Account for all incoming material and equipment by verifying that the amounts delivered coincide with the receiving copy of the PO, packing slip, and/or other delivery documentation
  • In the event of a potential problem, promptly notify the appropriate department to resolve the problem and or receive in and transfer to the RTV site creating an RTV Entry or QAHOLD site for QA’s involvement
  • Performs Inventory transactions for receipts
  • Receive and put away deliveries of products
  • Properly mark all materials with SATS barcode number
  • Conveys materials and items from receiving or production areas to bin locations or to other designated areas; “put a ways” and office deliveries.  Locate and stock received material by rotating the inventory by receipt date
  • Runs batches and pulls material for shipping orders including RTV shipments
  • Performs Inventory transactions for shipments
  • Verifies that packing slip agrees with picking ticket
  • Wraps, ties, or places material in envelopes, boxes, or other containers such as building crates. Package product for shipment
  • Provide shipping quotes when applicable
  • Stamps, types, or writes addresses on packaged materials
  • Forwards packages by mail, messenger, delivery carrier, or through message center.
  • File records of materials sent, track previous priority shipments on the internet and retrieve Quantum view UPS notifications for the Accounts Payable department
  • Provide rate quotes and other traffic-related assistance to other departments
  • Required to take care of all necessary paperwork and associated data entry for daily shipments
  • Must be able to operate a forklift and/or electrically powered devices needed for moving material and maintain certification
  • Perform and participate in the completion of the yearly Cycle Counts and Physical Inventory. Ensure inventory accuracy. Conduct inventory checks
  • House clean area
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.  Must be familiar with the standard concepts, practices, and procedures for the shipping/warehouse area and perform a variety of tasks.  Works under general supervision; reports to the Warehouse Supervisor.

Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Two years of shipping/warehouse experience
  • Moderate computer knowledge
  • Knowledge of mechanical parts nomenclature

  • N/A

Language Skills:

  •  Ability to read and understand English instructions

Mathematical Skills:

  • Basic math skills required
  • Conversion of a unit of measure
  • Accurate counting and interpretation of sales order quantity in the shipment
