Summary:

 

The QA Inspector is responsible for performing in-process and final inspections on manufactured assembled parts.  Receiving inspections on vendor parts as well as conducting First Article Inspections is a core responsibility for this role.  The QA Inspector proactively supports all aspects of STULZ to improve Safety, Quality, and Productivity.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Navigates and utilizes SAP to perform essential duties
  • Reads and interprets product drawings to perform inspections
  • Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement inspections
  • Approves in-process production by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement inspections.
  • Approves finished products by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement inspections.
  • Document inspection results by completing defect reports.
  • Able to review, interpret design specifications, criteria and requirements from production drawings (component, piping, wire schematic, assembly) in order to accurately validate the variance data of the items or material being inspected.
  • Reviews and verifies Bill of Material (BOM)/Order Confirmation, job folders, and SAP entries match STULZ documentation.
  • Verifies installed components meet customer expectations.
  • Controls and maintains personal inspection equipment to ensure proper use and calibration.
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Verifies Change Requests ECN-engineering change notification and related documentation affecting the standards and specifications of product and verifies application to identified products.
  • Initiates/submits Change Requests/Temporary Deviation Requests to Maufactoring Engineering.
  • Completes and organizes quality assurance records and other documentation to ensure an accurate record of the manufacturing and inspection process is maintained.
  • Assists in the development and modification of QA Travelers.
  • Communicates required adjustments with appropriate departments to resolve documentation, hardware and assembly nonconformance issues.
  • Participates in 5S and continual improvement efforts.
  • Mentors new employees, Quality Assurance Inspector I, II
  • Demonstrates safe behaviors and promote safe working environment.
  • Accomplishes quality and organization objectives by completing related duties/tasks.
  • Clear understanding of all production sub assembly areas, receiving inspections, and in sheet metal.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals and metric equivalents.
  • Reads and interprets product drawings to perform inspections
  • Ability to read tape measure, calipers, etc.
  • Ability to apply sound judgment to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form.

  • Competent knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook

  • Must be at a expert level Performance at the previous QA Inspector level.

 

Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Minimum of seven (7) years related manufacturing experience.
  • Seven (7) years in the Quality Assurance/Quality Control field in an ISO based manufacturing environment.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and understand English instructions.
