Title:  Production Material Control Expeditor

Summary:

 

The primary role is reviewing production schedules and related information to determine material requirements and on time delivery to the final assembly operation sequences.  Proactively identify potential material shortages prior to them becoming past due and take action with vendors through procurement and with manufacturing through planning teams.  Identify and take action with related information with any overdue materials and material tracking.  An unfavorable outcome may reflect notifying the Production Planner of production delays and re-scheduling.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Create and generate daily production schedule reports and tracks material pulled per production order, operation sequence, track delivery date to the production floor, indicator if any material shortages, and track material completion status.
  • Compile the above data collection for KPI metrics and charts.
  • Monitors receipt of materials prior to scheduled order sequence operation start date.
  • Notify the Production Planner if a developed contingency plan for late deliveries is required.
  • Interfaces with necessary departments to assure job completion or for the production planner to review for contingency plan.
  • Monitors schedule changes.
  • Issue Production Orders to the shop floor based on MRP Controller planned order schedules.
  • Attend meetings and reports daily schedule status.
  • Follow-up daily or multiple times a day on progress for urgent products.
  • Performs any other related material expeditor duties including building to building transportation and delivering to production work centers.
  • Follow and promote company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Able to manage multiple urgent requests simultaneously with high degrees of variation and uncertainty and prioritize tasks based on demand.
  • Strong organizational skills arranging transfer of materials to meet production schedules.
  • Ability to work well with department supervisors and personnel to determine overdue materials and inform supervisors of material status.
  • Able to work with warehouse to locate and distribute materials to specified production areas including the movement to outside processing.
  • Understanding of inventory control.
  • Skillful at working independently and team oriented with a continuous improvement outlook.
  • Understands the KPI metrics and supports the data collection for metric charts.
  • Conscientious, organized and meticulous-records must be accurate and maintained.
  • Understanding of fabrication, paint processes, and sub-assembly knowledge of fabricated finished goods.
  • Ability to read & understand shop drawings.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively outstanding issues and order status.
  • Ability to adapt, accept, and promote changes in a team centric environment.
  • A strong commitment to quality and safety.

 

Education/Experience:

 

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with an MRP system, prefer SAP.
  • Experience and knowledge of Microsoft productivity applications such as Excel, prefer.

 

Preferred Skills:

 

  • Minimum of 3 years of production control experience is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of inventory control experience is preferred.

 

Language Skills:

 

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English at a high school level.
  • Ability to speak effectively with all levels of employees within the organization.

 

Mathematical Skills:

 

Basic Math skills: Measurement and counting
